Bernese Mountain Dog Blankets: Everything to Know Before You Buy
A Bernese Mountain Dog blanket from The Bernie Bears is a one of a kind piece — every design here is an exclusive, original The Bernie Bears design, created by one artist for this brand and no other. Each one is made to accurately capture the breed we all adore, from the tricolor markings to the gentle, soulful expression, and designed to be beautiful enough to live out in the open as stylish home decor — draped over the couch, styled on a reading chair, and soft as a Berner when you finally wrap up in it. Whether you’re decorating your own living room, surviving sweater weather with 100 pounds of fluff on your lap, or shopping for the Berner mom who has everything, this guide covers what makes these Berner blankets special and how to choose the right one.
What makes a Bernese Mountain Dog throw blanket from The Bernie Bears different?
These aren’t mass-market dog blankets. Every blanket is an original, one of a kind The Bernie Bears design that represents the breed faithfully and beautifully — cottagecore florals, folk art scenes, and tricolor plaids drawn from the breed’s famous black, rust, and white coat. The artwork is created to hold its own as home decor first, so the blanket looks intentional on display, not like dog merch. Underneath the design: light to medium weight mink-style plush that feels extra soft against the skin, a vivid single-sided print, and double-needle topstitched edges built to survive repeated washing and everyday Berner snuggling.
What sizes do Bernese Mountain Dog blankets come in?
Two sizes: 50" x 60" and 60" x 80". The 50" x 60" throw is right for draping over a couch or reading chair, wrapping up solo, or gifting. The 60" x 80" is the one to choose if you share your blanket with an actual Bernese Mountain Dog — it covers a bed topper, a tall human, or a human-plus-Berner pile with room to spare. Please note that up to 3 inches of measurement variation may occur during production.
Which Bernese Mountain Dog blanket style should you choose?
- Cottagecore and floral designs bring soft, vintage charm to living rooms and reading nooks
- Tricolor plaid designs echo the Berner coat itself — a subtle nod only fellow Berner people will catch
- Folk art designs carry storybook, heritage-style scenes
- Seasonal designs rotate through fall, Halloween, and Christmas collections for holiday home decor that still works every cozy night in between
Every style is designed to work as Bernese Mountain Dog home decor first — beautiful on the back of a couch even when it’s not wrapped around someone.
Why do Bernese Mountain Dog blankets make meaningful gifts?
Berner people don’t just own a dog — they belong to a breed. A Bernese Mountain Dog blanket says you see that. These throws are favorite gifts for Berner moms and Berner dads at Christmas, birthdays, Mother’s Day, and housewarmings, and a comforting memorial gift for anyone who has lost a heart dog. Both sizes come in under $75, every order ships free within the USA, and each blanket arrives made to order — a gift that gets used daily instead of put in a drawer.
How do you wash a Bernese Mountain Dog blanket?
Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Do not bleach, iron, or dry clean. Hand washing will extend the life of the print. The plush fabric is made to stay soft wash after wash — which matters in a house where the blanket shares couch space with a shedding Berner. Every blanket also meets flammability, lead, cadmium, phthalates, BPA, azo dyes and formaldehyde level requirements, so it’s safe for the whole family — including the four-legged members who will absolutely claim it.
